Jackson, MS — A tractor-trailer transporting caged chickens suffered a crash on Interstate 20 early Wednesday morning. The accident has caused considerable disruption and led to some unusual sights on the highway.
The truck was traveling eastbound on the interstate when it crashed near Highway 18 and Merit Health Central, around 6 a.m. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by local authorities.

The impact of the crash caused several chicken cages to tumble from the vehicle, resulting in an unusual scene as chickens roamed around the crash site. Pictures and videos shared on social media show scattered cages and chickens strutting along the road.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver’s condition remains unknown at this time, and it’s unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The accident caused significant traffic disruptions, with law enforcement urging motorists to find alternative routes while the wreckage is cleared.
Cleanup crews are working to remove the cages and safely collect the chickens. Animal control has been notified to assist in ensuring the chickens are safely recovered.
